The Great Barrier Reef // The Lifetime of Greatness Project
The Great Barrier Reef isn’t just the world’s largest natural wonder. It’s officially recognised as the world’s largest living entity. A single living organism that does incredible things for the planet. In order to get more people aware of the impact of the Reef on the world (and the world’s impact on it), we found a loophole in the United Nations’ Environment Programme’s Lifetime Achievement Award criteria that allowed us to nominate any living individual. And so we set out on a global campaign to see the Great Barrier Reef recognised as the first non-human recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award, in honour of a millennia of service for the planet and its inhabitants.
